Ambrose Cletus Sterzinger, 78, Colby, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Ambrose served in the U.S. Army Infantry Regiment known as the "Wolfhounds," a veteran of the Korean War. Ambrose worked for the Colby Box Factory, Artcraft Homes, Streckert Manufacturing and Northwest Hardwoods. He was the "dump man" for the town of Hull for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Isabella (Williams) Babcock Sterzinger, Colby; his children, Richard (Carol) Sterzinger, Auburndale, Ronald (Alicia) Sterzinger, Robbinsdale, Minn., Donna (Bill) Hennes, Unity, Tim (Cheri) Sterzinger, Marshfield, Jerry Sterzinger, Phoenix, Lori (Pete) Brill, Minneapolis, and Russell (Kimberly) Sterzinger, Wisconsin Rapids; his stepchildren, Wayne (Jean) Babcock and Susan Babcock, all of Mosinee, Clyde (Marlene) Babcock, Wausau, David (Bev) Babcock, Wittenberg, and Dickie (Jo Ann) Babcock, Elderon; 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; his stepmother, Violet Sterzinger, Colby; one sister, Mary Ann (Don) Uerling, Colby; and his brothers, Robert (Joanne) Sterzinger of Hibbing, Minn., Jim (Levinia) Sterzinger, Locke, N.Y., Tony (RuthAnn) Sterzinger, Herb Sterzinger and Sylvester Sterzinger, all of Colby.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Colby. Burial with full military honors by Colby Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2227 will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Community Funeral Home, Colby, where there will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Colby VFW service.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home, Colby, is assisting the family with arrangements.
